These “big questions” are what inspired India-born Kamal Saggi to take up economics as an undergraduate at Ohio Wesleyan University. Vanderbilt named to 'honor roll' for women full professors in economics

nsfTong Li, professor of economics and chair of the department, has been awarded a grant from the National Science Foundation to support his work on analyzing auction data, studying bidders’ strategic behavior, and addressing policy-related questions using game-theoretic models and state-of-art econometric methods.

Regular Weekly Seminars

The department offers regular weekly seminars.  The usual schedule is:

  • The Dornbush/Roby Seminar Series: Including departmental, empirical, statistical and international economic seminars are held in room 423, Calhoun Hall at 3:10 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. (unless otherwise indicated)
  • The Steine Lecture Series:   The next lecture will be Friday, February 17th, 2011, (time and location to be determined). The guest speaker is Chris Sims of Princeton University.
  • The McGee Lecture Series:  The next lecture will be held Thursday, March 24, 2011, time and place to be determined. The guest speaker is Janet Currie of Columbia University.
